About The Author

After travelling the world extensively for seven years, Ruth Tal Brown returned to Toronto to attend studies at Ryerson Polytechnic and then at the University of Toronto.

Having been inspired by the growing trend of juice bars and healthy eating south of the border, Ruth created Juice for Life. Ruth dreamed of opening a vegetarian food and juice bar where people would feel accepted and satisfied no matter what their lifestyle or eating preferences. Her first location, a seasonal juice bar, opened at the Bamboo Club in 1991. One year later, she moved to a permanent location in the newly renovated Queen Street Market, across from City TV, where she developed the signature juices & foods that form the core of the Juice For Life concept. In 1995, she opened the Fresh on Bloor Restaurant location and managed the operation until June 1998 when she opened the Queen Street Café, a larger improved version of the Queen Street Market location. In 2001, Ruth became a National Best Selling Author with her Juice For Life cookbook, Modern Food and Luscious Juice.
